How to adjust A pedal barrel tuners on a sho bud pro 2

Post by Ryan Forster »

having some issues with my 73’ sho bud pro 2 with a 1/1 changer and barrel tuners and wondering if someone has some advice. I have done a ton of work now on this steel getting it up and running but still running into an issue with my A pedal raise (string 5) with two pulls on a single rod. Having some tuning instability and am thinking it is to do with the barrel tuners, i have got some new tuners from psgparts.com and am wondering if cutting the little wire on the barrel tuner even shorter then it is would help? It seems that the A pedal raise when it gets spun around when i tune the C pedal barrel often comes back seated on the bell crank in a way that i think may be causing tuning issues. I have experimented with it but haven’t got it working quite right yet, should i leave barely any wire on the barrel of that particular pull?

Yes when you have two barrels two positions on one rod.....when you push one pedal that will engage that barrel and the other barrel should move back and not engage; BUT if the spring tip is sticking out too far on that barrel that is suppose to clear; yes it will also turn; then you have to go back and retune that one and then the other barrel now might not clear also....so back forth ....yuk.
I always snip the spring tip so it really only 1/8" sticking out; especially on the barrel that already has some slack which is the C pedal barrel...>but I never liked any spring tip being over 1/8" anyways; cause then some times it just doesn't move right when turning.

Awesome thanks, definitely find it finicky with this system of changer to get two pulls on one rod dialed in . Though I do love the sound of this old bud for sure.
Cheers
