New Milkman amp demo

Post by Bob Hoffnar »

Tim had me do a demo for his new Half and Half. It's an astonishing amp ! The recording has no processing at all and I only used the Emmons>goodrich vol pedal> Milkman.

Couple of questions:

What online retailers handle this new Milkman Half and Half (300 watt steel, not the bass one)?

What is the weight of the standalone head?

and lastly, folks is alnico better for pedal steel (I always looked for ceramic)?
Thanks guys.

BTW nice playing on the demo, and this amp sounds great!

David,
The speaker is one of the new JBL type with a ceramic magnet. I was blown away by the sound. It’s the same weight as the JBL equivalent.

Very, very nice Bob, thanks for the demo..... if Peavey doesn't release the new Nashville Session 115 soon (it's been over 5 months, and counting), I may be tempted to get one of these.

Good sounding amp Bob. It should be at the cost. I seen it's speaker retails for $799.00 plus shipping for a raw speaker, no cabinet. I'm inclined to wait for the Peavey Session.

????? It's apples and oranges between the new Peaveys and this Milkman amp.

Latest repsonse from Peavey (robot?) via email today:

"The Nashville™ Session® 115 Steel Guitar Amp Combo will be back in stock soon
Thank you for your interest in the Nashville™ Session® 115 Steel Guitar Amp Combo. We will notify you as soon as this item is back in stock"

I've not had good luck with steel amps that don't have a mid frequency shift control. The more EQ the better when playing with different steel guitars and at various venues.

The Peavey amp at my dealer's discounted price offers a lot of EQ options plus selectable preamps. Hopefully I won't need to swap out the provided speaker for a real one lol.
