Mullen Steel Guitar Co..!

Post by Johnie Helms »

What’s goin on.???

Ok,
I have now ordered a NEW guitar well over a Year ago, and have gotten nothing but the run a round.! Over the past Year I was told I was next in line, or they were starting on it very soon, or waiting on parts.!

I understand the unfortunate mishaps this past Year or so…
(And am very sorry about this, as is everyone.)

But I was told “again” after My Yearly order, that It was very near My turn,

And now I caint even git a a call back or email… just a prerecorded message. Not even an email update… Ugh!

Anyone else with the same situation(s)…?

Thank you.

JH

I have also been trying to buy a part for some time with no communication. I wish one of our fellow forumites that lives in the Denver area would go to the plant and see if anyone is there. Johnie Helms ordered his guitar in Oct. a year ago, before the unfortunate family deaths. I feel something is amiss. Hope not, but everything points to it. A normal action would be to at least communicate with people that have sent monies up front such as Johnie Helms. a professional player that needs his guitar and told he would get it months ago. 13 months was not discussed or is reasonable. I sent them an email at the beginning of the month and never got a response back. I understand Lynette left. Dana who doesn't even live there was answering emails for a while from her home in another state. But the last communication I had from her was in September. There was notice that Shaun had left the company, then that he had come back to help out but that was in the summer. If Shaun has left for good... who is left? No one.

Reminds me the “Emmons” downward spiral when Ron Lashley started falling behind. Hopefully, this won’t repeat that scenario. To be clear, I’m not suggesting it’s the same thing—this is a completely different set of circumstances with different people involved. At this point, patience seems to be all we’ve got. Like you said, Mullen’s taken a few hard hits in quick succession. Just have to hope for the best.

What's going on is that Mike Mantey passed away somewhere around a year ago, Del Mullen passed away recently, and they're trying to recover.

I direct you to this recent thread - viewtopic.php?t=406334 and in particular this reply from Dana Roesner, a sibling of Mike Mantey - viewtopic.php?p=3268097#p3268097
Yes, I hate to say, but Del has indeed passed away. Losing my brother Mike was devastating to our family and our business. Now losing Del is another devastating loss for us. My brother Shaun has been dealing with serious health issues since the beginning of this year. Our “polisher” Nick is a very capable, loyal, and hardworking employee, so please no negative comments about or staff. Correspondence is slower as we lost our office manager recently. Yes we are behind for these reasons and others. We are getting on track, but unfortunately with Del’s passing, we are focusing on that at the moment. Shaun is working hard to fulfill all orders. Email is the best way to reach us. We will be pausing on all NEW orders, so that we can focus on existing orders. I apologize to all affected by our series of unfortunate circumstances over the past year. We are grateful to those sticking with us and apologize that it’s been a long wait. We are doing what we can. Thank you.

That post was just over a month ago. I would not have expected them to recover within a month. I agree that someone should return emails. But I think it's premature to suggest a 'downward spiral' at this point. I definitely have some parts I want to order, but I decided to wait until the dust settles.

The customer on my left shoulder says "Bidness is bidness; there's no excuse not to communicate" while the human on my right shoulder says "Have some compassion this is a first-world problem" - humanity wins every time.

I ordered a Discovery in Jan, got it early Sept. One of if not the last ones to go out, I'd guess I ordered a half stop a couple days later, paypal was charged. So over 2 months ago. It showed in stock at the time.

Of course then all that bad stuff happened. I called a couple days after Nov 3 when they were supposed to reopen, got the same VM that had been up, called again late last week, the new VM said to leave a message and they were working to get out back orders. So at least there is someone there to change the message. So hopefully they are just swamped and trying to catch up. I really like the new steel, just wanted to add a few things, when they can.

I guess we'll see. I will say, they make a nice steel guitar so I certainly hope they can stay in business.
